The Factors Affecting Laying Hens

1 Egg production cycle and egg production rate
High-quality laying hens can generally lay 4-6 eggs continuously and then rest for 1 to 2 days, presenting a periodic egg-laying phenomenon, which is called the laying cycle. Laying rate refers to the actual number of eggs laid by chickens in a certain period of time. The egg production rate of chickens is related to the number of continuous production in the egg production cycle. Chickens usually lay eggs during the day, usually about 30 minutes after the previous egg lays, and the next ovulation begins. The laying cycle and continuous production characteristics are mainly determined by genetic factors. The longer the egg production cycle, the higher the egg production. On the contrary, the shorter the egg production cycle, the lower the egg production.

2 seasons and light
In spring, both high- and low-yielding hens have a longer egg-laying cycle, while summer is short and winter is relatively stable. If you want to lay more eggs, you must do a good job in spring feeding and management to make full use of the egg-laying potential. Light also has an important effect on laying eggs
For chickens to ensure high yields, they must be given enough light (natural or artificial light) for 14 to 16 hours. Artificial light is generally better than ordinary electric lights.

3 balanced nutrition
The nutritional level of laying hens is a prerequisite to ensure high yield, among which calcium and vitamin A in protein and minerals are the main ones. And protein is the main part of nutrition. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure enough protein in the diet of chickens to ensure high egg production. Calcium is the main component of eggshells. If it is lacking, the output will be low, or soft-skinned eggs will be produced. Similarly, vitamin A cannot be lacking.

4 Temperature Low temperature in winter or high temperature in summer affects the egg production rate. It is generally considered that the suitable environment temperature for egg production is 18. 3~23.6°C.

5. Chicks hatched in early spring at age usually have the highest egg production in that year. With the increase of age, egg production decreases year by year. The production start time is delayed year by year, and the production stop time is advanced year by year.

6. Moulting is a normal physiological phenomenon of chickens, and it also has a greater impact on egg production. At present, artificially forced molting is often used to shorten the molting time and reduce downtime.

There are many factors that affect laying hens. The above are the main common factors. In addition, there are genetic factors, such as sexual maturity, etc., in order to achieve high yield and stable production, avoid unfavorable factors, and create the best ecological environment for laying hens.
